This simple 60w soldering iron allows you to solder the LEDs together while they are attached to the heatsink because of the 60w power.

This worked great for my build. I don't think this thing is built to last (the cord was starting to come undone), but for a build you can't beat the price and it does work fine. Heats up quickly. If you're going to be building a ton of fixtures, I recommend buying a more sturdy iron. For a quick build, this works great.

I've had two other soldering irons from Radio Shack in the past and this one is MUCH better. It has a really nice tip and heats up and melts the solder very quickly. I wish LED Group Buy sold the extra tips though.

You might think 60W is a bit large for semiconductors but what I find is it allows you to quickly get a good solder joint. The fine point makes all of the difference here. The iron runs a little hot and tends to oxidize solder a bit faster than I am used to but a quick wipe across a damp sponge cleans it well enough.
Do yourself a favor and bend some coat hanger wire into a stand.

This is the fourth soldering iron i've used in the past two months. Great tip, and price. Only thing I wish is that LED group buy carried the extra tips.
